For the closing programme of Märzmusik, I AM ALL EARS, Lou Drago, Isabel Lewis and Dambi Kim were invited to host a continuation of their 2018 work, Day Rave. Day Rave originated within the frame of the exhibition, Welt Ohne Außen, at Martin Groupius Bau, Berlin, to experiment with the possibility of bringing the energy of the rave into a white cube, albeit without relying on classic rave music. Curators of Märzmusik, Wojtek Belhash and Kamila Metwaly, similarly wondered whether it would be possible to introduce a more embodied way of listening and experiencing music to the neue musik audience and 8 years after Day Rave’s inception invited the artists to reimagine this work. For Other Time, stretches far beyond 8 years, creating a portal for remembering the single cell organisms from which we came, taking listeners on a journey to remember their amphibious and tailed bodies.
The artists, joined for this occasion by performer and host, Margherita D’Adamo and artist and scenographer, Dirk Bell, created a 7-hour durational piece that wove together tea ceremony and sound bath, plant synthesised music and dub loops, hydrophone recordings and guided embodiment scores invoking our pre-human underwater ancestors, downtempo beats and spoken word invocations.
